For months I’m dealing with the problem of not being able to watch embedded videos inside of Safari on my Mac. Even searching the web didn’t come up with a good solution so I started to live with it – until now.

Today I went into this issue once more and felt to investigate it again – maybe there are some new insights around.

The first solutions found in the apple developer forum as well as some google forums didn’t help. It was all about having to enable Flash in the Safari preferences, enable some plugins I’m not using or reinstalling flash – which I already tried.

A small comment on a very large list inside facebooks notes about flash brought up another hint which actually did the trick: remove settings.sol.

$ rm ~/Library/Preferences/Flash\ Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys/settings.sol
$ 

Done – and now I can watch videos on facebook also inside Safari. Yeah! \o/
